Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, we have changed our office policy for entry. Everyone must ring our doorbell for service. Prior to entry, you will be asked several questions via our intercom system. Upon satisfactory answering of questions, you will be given a COVID-19 form for completion through our door slot. Once finished, you will have your temperature taken and escorted into our office. All individuals must wear a mask. Only those with appointments are allowed to be in the office at this time. We are active participants in flattening the curve and appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Local gardeners host Beckley Garden Exchange this Tuesday

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – In an effort to bring to the community together, a group of Beckley gardeners is putting on a garden exchange tomorrow evening.

Attendees are invited to bring plants they want to share, including annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, herbs, and house plants. They can then swap them for something desired or leave the plant for another community member. There is no cost involved.

“Plants impact the community in multiple ways. It’s not just sustainability, it’s not just subsidence. As a Psychologist, I see it as very therapeutic for people to have plants to learn about the development and to tend to them. It’s absolutely therapeutic and, having plants in your home, of course, increases the amount of oxygen in a space which we all know has very positive health benefits for every individual in and around that space,” said event organizer Kristi Dumas.

The event is Tuesday, August 4th, 2020, at 6 p.m. on 112 Church Street in Beckley.
